Riding with Dan Stuart
In May we had the pleasure to do a shortish two-gig tour with “the grumpiest man in showbusiness” ex-Green on Red frontman Dan Stuart. But it didn´t take many seconds of twanging before he was all smiles – as you can see from this 15 minutes clip from Southside Cavern, Stockholm, May 10th.
Those of you who follow us know. We´ve been playing with a lot of paisley underground luminaires over the years – Sid Griffin (The Long Ryders), Steve Wynn, Chuck Prophet (Green on Red) Chris Cacavas (Green on Red) and The Dream Syndicate.. 9th and 10th May we were given the opportunity to play with yet another great artist associated with this highly influential movement in Los Angeles early 1980´s – mid 1980´s: Dan Stuart frontman of Green on Red in Malmö (KLubb Värnhem) and Stockholm (Southside Cavern) May 9th and 10th.
The set-up was The Plastic Pals opening and Dan Stuart headlining with his sideman, the wonderful guitarist Antonio Gramentieri, leader of the awesome Italian band Sacri Cuori. At the end of Dan´s set The Plastic Pals would join in for a few Green on Red classics.
The part with Dan, Antonio and The Plastic Pals was captured on video in Stockholm and the full about 15 minute set can be viewed on the YouTube clip here.
The Plastic Pals would like to send out a big thank you to Dan, Antonio and to Dan´s manager Chris Metzler for making this happen. Plus a big thank you to promoters Klubb Värnhem (and to Urban for lodging) and Porter Thorells Syndrom and each an everyone of you who came out to see us on these gigs. You´re the best!
